Easy One-Bowl Sweet Treat Recipes

Ever see a good recipe and then lose interest when there are so many steps, bowls, and mixers required?

I often feel the same.

These days I do tend to use a lot more equipment and bowls for my baking, but when I decide to make a special treat for myself I want something simple and easy that doesn’t require a lot of cleaning up.

Mainly because I still have to wash everything by hand and already feel like I spend more time with my kitchen sink than my bed.  Yes, I know what you’re thinking, ‘just get a dishwasher’. Easier said than done I’m afraid when you’re in a one-bedroom apartment and have to choose between using the allocated space for a dishwasher or washing machine. I definitely made the right decision here! At least that’s what I keep telling myself…

So I’ve gone in search of some easy one-bowl recipes that will (hopefully) inspire you, and myself, to make something delicious.

Salted Fudge Brownies

When I saw this recipe on Food and Wine, I immediately knew I had to add it to the list.  Everything is whisked into the same pot used to melt the butter and chocolate, easy peasy.

Don’t be discouraged by the measurements (US), here’s an easy conversion for the ingredients listed:

1 ½ sticks butter = ¾ cup or 170g butter/baking margarine

2 ounces chocolate = ¼ cup choc chips or chopped chocolate (I’d heap it up, but that’s just me)

1 cup all purpose flour = 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cake flour

This Patriotic No Churn Ice-cream by Kathleen is an absolute winner in my books.  This was part of her Independence day celebration recipes and celebrate it does!  The nice thing is that you can go absolutely crazy and substitute the sweets in this ice-cream with anything from smarties and whispers to even cookies. If you have a craving – I say add it!  The hardest part of this recipe is the wait for it to set.

I always have a jar of biscuits in my kitchen for that after dinner before bedtime cup of tea. With only three ingredients, this recipe by Lichelle Hawthorne is quick, easy, and can be spruced up by adding some rosemary, nuts or melted chocolate.  You could also seal these in a packet or box and makes the perfect gift.

Hope these quick and easy one-bowl recipes have made whipping up something delicious a little less daunting and will save you a trip to the shop next time you’re looking for a sweet treat.
